Kirkcaldie said that accused had disappeared, and his family had been unablo to locate him for some months until lie. got into trouble at Ashburton and was sentenced to a month's imprisonment. CASES. ■A. large number of defendants pleaded guilty to charg'os of allowing-'horses and cattle to wander. Richard Rhodes, John Breen, and Horbert Wilton were, each fined 10s., with costs 7s.;'Frederick Reid and William Haynes were fined Bs., with\costs 7s.'; in the cases'of Thomas 'Cole ."and John" Lane, the fine was' 75., with',7s. .'costs, while a penalty of 55., and. costs 75., was-imposed respectively' on," Daniel- Griffin, James M'Kenzio, Alice Wickman, James Bradley, Patrick O'Shea, Arthur Wiflin, and Frederick Johns. .. William Collins, Andrew Collins, jun., Edward Eton, John Gregory, James J. Moore, Walter Rogers, James A. Smith,, and' Marion Taske'r,. were convicted of failing to,register dogs,"alid were eaoh ordered -to -pay 7s.- court costs. . For allowing chimneys to catch fire, Alfred Mitchell and Elizabeth Monaban were each fined 55., with; costs 7s. For riding a bicycle on the footpath in Wellington South,; Cecil W. Miller was fined 55., with costs.7s. For'allowing a cart to bo driven over 'a footway in King Street, David Andrews was ■ fined/305., • with costs 95., and witness's expenses 9s. His Worship : ordered that 255. of the.fine was'to be paid to the corporation to cover costs of repairs to the footway.
