THE KING'S WHARF.
A PECULIAR DIFFICULTY. It is understood that a peculiar difficulty has arisen between, the Harbour Board and two'..of r the' leading shipping companies with'regard.;to; the. berthing of ocean liners at the King's Wharf. So far as can be' ascertained—there is a, good deal ,of.mystery; surrounding;. the matter v —the shipping companies in question deBire. that, their boats, shall regularly berth at the lung's Wharf, but for some reason or other the Harbour Board is not willing that this should.be 60. . On her last visit to'Wellihgton,'the .board, it is,-understood,'! declined: to' ac-. cede, to the', request: of: the. Wellington agents, to have the Turakina; berthed at the King's;-.-Wharf/ and it is just possible, that; the .'same difficulty, will arise when the Athenic arrives here on" Saturday. 7 Should this be-so, there will, hi all -probability, be some little' friction ■ between.the:: Company and the board.. It is believed that the former do not consider ; that the .difficulties, which are being.raised;.by: the board in this connection, aro of sufficient gravity to justify the'closing; of the King's Wharf to ,the big passenger steamers.
