The constable, who. was leading! his bicycle,;.proceeded ( to escort ; the 'man -back';; to the hotel,- and 'they were crossing : the railway ■ line":' when': Ryan, who had been walking with, hia ; hands behind suddenly whipped, out a razor; and'inflicted.a severe wound oh himself.
