RECREATION GROUNDS

PROPOSALS BEFORE THE CITY ; COUNCIL. -

' The.Mayor.'(Mr; Wilted) has given no-' tice to move, pro forma, at the meeting of the City Codncil to-morrow,eveningr-(a) That the "resolution passed at the "meeting of the 'council held on: July 14, 1910, having reference to the ■ purchase by the council from the trustees of the late H. D. Crawford's estate of twenty acres of land at; Lyall Bay, at >£ISO per acre (subject to a righbof-access through sameV, and the taking over of four acres adjoining from the said trustees for road puvnoscs, the rood to be formed by the council at its own cost, be resoinded. , (b) That for the purposes of a recreal;on ground for, the city, the council purchase from the said trustees twentyfour acres':(moire or less) of land-at Lyall Bay immediately adjoining the land recently acquired by the council from the snid trustees, and extending- eastwards to the rocks at the end of the. beach, and southwards to high-water mark, _ without any restriction as; to access, road formation, or otherwise, at a price; to be mutually agreed upon between the council and the trustees,- or in the alternative: (c) That the. council forthwith, take, under the Public Works Act, 1908, such twenty-four, acres of land (or such .other area as the coiincal: may decide) tor the purposes of a riscreatioh ground .for the city. - , ■
