(Prom Oar Sdoclbl Correspondent*.) e FEATHERSTON. Mrs. Knell, of the Lower Hutt, was thrown out of a buggy on Saturday night, but was not . seriously injured. She escaped with bruises and a severe shaking. Featherston has had the honour of a flying visit from his Excellency the Governor and party. They drove through the town by motor-car. on Saturday afternoon. A slight explosion-of gas in a local drapery store on Saturday night caused some excitement, but fortunately no serious results followed. OTAKI. At a meeting of the Otaki Road Board; on Saturday afternoon it was decided .to havo a test Court case with Natives who are alleged .to be able, but who do not, pay rates. ,It was resolved also that the Kangiuru Bridge bo closed for traffic, on account of the decayed condition of_a stringer. The matter of connecting Mill ltoad and Dunstan Street was held over till next meeting, while the matter of obtaining game reserves was also' left in abeyance. It was decided to invite tenders for,the position of lamp-lighter. Mr. Harold Freeman, late of Otaki, and now stationed at Wellington on the .staff, of the Bank of Australasia, is at present enjoying' a brief holiday at Otaki. Mr. H. Freeman, sen., of Otaki, is at present spending a short, holiday in the Wairarapa, having;left here on.Saturday morning last.
