LODGE MEETING.

A public meeting, under the auspices of the Star of Wellington Lodge, 1.0. G.T., was held last evening in Peter's Hall, Taraiiaki, Street. A large number'of those present were members of the Pioneer and other lodges. Bro. R. Reid, C.T., presided over • a largo gathering. Tu6 principle feature of the meeting was an address by Bro: W. J. Jordan, D.E.S., who , having just left a meeting of- the Wellington Trades and Labour Council, stated that the nominees of that body for the City Council vacancies, Messrs. Carey and Reardon, were both, sympathetic to the temperance movement, lio quoted cases of suffering in the immediate district, and said they showed the necessity of voting away the liquor traffic as soon as possible.
