ENTERTAINMENTS.

NATIONAL PICTURES... . The National Pictures and Chrononiogaphone, with the interesting visual and vocal records of Harry Laudor in his. famous songs, were again responsible last night for drawing a crowd to the Opera House. This closes the Wellington Reason of this entertainment. . ■ THEATRE ROYAL. . ; The projrammo. at present being presented at the Theatre. Royal by Fullers' Vaudeville Company was much enjoyed by a decidedly appreciative audience last night. The Rogers Quartette, Harry Sadler, Carden Wilson, Blanche Carelli, and" tho other members of the- company wore heartily applauded for their contributions to a first-class entertainment. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. The new programme of moving pictures submitted by the Fuller Proprietary at His Majesty's Theatre last night was of a high standard t>t'excellence, and the crowded audience which was there to welcome it was not backward in expressing its appreciation. A particularly interesting film was that which portrayed the long 'series of processes 'involved <in the production' of a daily newspaper, from the forest where the pines whicu are to fur-, hish the pulp'for the'material basis of the. newspaper .flourish ill all their wild beauty,' down to the last stage: , of the delivery of the finished product 'to the , breakfast tables of its readers. ,-The film is a.long one, and necessarily comprises many separate scenes and actions, but it is almost uniformly good throughout,,and is'as instructive as it is-interesting. "A Child of'the Ghetto" is-a dramatic -story,, the scene; of which is laid partly in certain quarters of New ' York City : and partly in rural. surroundings of an : idyllic character; The story, opens pathetically with the death of a-poor woman, leaving her. daughter, .the heroine,,.to fight her battles alone. She takes in sewing- 'and makes a ; brave.struggle of it,;but disaster overwhelms her in, the- shape of unjust suspicion of theft. -She succeeds in evading pursuit, fall , exhausted, by a village wayside, where , she is picked, lip-by a .country lad, who takes.her to his, mother. . The. poor;. girl, finds herself' among;lurid-'friends, and begins ■■ to know what happiness is, when she is again thrown into alarm by.- a visit from.a police but she.convinces him of her innocencej and when the curtain falls; there, is every, prospect of a happy ending of the-, old-I'ashioiied sort.•'.-There .are. many other excellent features in the'iiew, programme, such.as the travel subject'of ."ICoenigscel in; Bavaria,". - "comics". like. "Mr. ■ Bumptious : on Birds,". "An Inter-, rupted Honeymoon," "A Bolt from : the Blue,", and , sensational themes like: "Sor : . ceress of the; Strand," arid, "Percy,' the Cowboy." . The military ; tournament of tho. 7th Hussars also makes a good. sub-, ject. . The whole of ■ the scenery, and" effects' were sent direct from Auckland for the 'Welling-ton-season, and everything is in complete readiness for the rehearsal which is ,to take place/this evening.
