ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
.'; ' AN EVANGELIST'INJURED, : Mr. D. N.'.-M-Craokett, an evangelist connected with the Church of Christ, had a rather serious accident yesterday morning. Ho had just left the Newtown^ office of The Dominion and.mounted his bicycle when, being somewhat short-sighted, he narrowly avoided a collision, with a tramcari Getting clear he rode right in front, of tliß Wellington Gas Company's express,' which knocked him down, and ran over one of his logs. Fortunately, the leg was shielded by one of the wheels of tho cycle, and on that account avoided biing broken, the vehicle being loaded with coke. He was. removed to Castle's Pharmacy, where it was found that the bone had not been fractured, though the ' limb was severely bruised. Mr. M'Crackett, who was badly shaken, was removed to his home, where he is doing as well as ; can., be expected. . ■-■.■ CYCLIST-COLLIDES. A man named Duncan M'Craken, residing at 119 Wallace Street; ■ whilq riding a bicycle sustained slight injuries yesterday at 10.30 a.m., through colliding with an express at the corner of Riddiford and Rintoul Streets. . KNOCKED DOWN. At 6.25 p.m. yesterday a middle-aged man named John Scott was' knocked down in Manners Street by a motorbicycle. Mr. Scott had his clothes torn, but apparently sustained only slight injuries. . . ' ■.-. DROPS DEAD IN HOSPITAL. (By TeloßrapU.-Prcsa Aseoctation.l Hamilton, August 31. A man named John M'Lean, a carpenter, who wa§ being treated in tho hospital for lead poisoning, dropped dead in the corridor of tho institution. In spectov of Policci to-night, statins that a man named Fallon had been found drowned in a creek at Wade. MISHAP TO LABOURER, While working on tho wharf yesterday a labourer named Win.'Johns received a knock on the eye with an empty coalbasket, and had to be removed to. the hospital, but it is understood that his injuries aTe but slight.
