MUNICIPAL .PICTURE.-SHOW. (From Our Special Correspondent.) Palmorston August SO. Court' Manawfitu, A.0.P., met last night, Bro. Patten, C.R., presiding. A motion of condolence was passed to the relatives of. the late Bro. Hickey, the court adjourning for fifteen minutes/ as a mark of respect to the late brother. The.court was also ordered to be draped for three meeting nights. It was further dccided to forward a letter of sympathy to tho Feeding Court, touching tho death of their sepretary, who had held the position for thirty-three vears. Two now members were initiated, and another proposed.

' The visiting High-School football teams from Napier and .New Plymouth, to-gether-with the local boys, were enter-tainod-at a dance--last night by the Rector of the High School (Air. J. 13. Vernon) and Jlrs. Vernon. A large nnhiber of adult visitors were also present, and an enjoyable time was spent. The floor was in line order, and excellent music was contributed by Mrs. W. M'Kenzie. During the* evening the banner and shield ■ (previously held by Napier) were handed over to the Palmerston boyS, who. had won both trophies. On the motion of tho Mayor (Mr. J. A. Nash), a hearty vote of. thanks was accorded. Mr. tuul Mrs. Vernon for their hospitality, and cheers were given for Mrs. M'Kenzie, who played. Tho Napier and' New Plymouth boys returned to their homes .to-day, having had a splendid time, in Palmerston. » '• The' Manawatu Hunt Club's ball, lield last week, and whicli was such a splen- . id, .social, success,' has also worked out ■'well' financially/- With the profit also from the Steeplechase Meeting, the Hunt ,Club; will have a handsome credit balance to.'carry forward.';to.,next year!
