ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
VICTORIA STREET OCCURRENCE. Mr. Geo. Cnssidy, malinger of tho Commcrcial Hotel, Lambton Quay, was tho victim of an accident in Victoria Street yesterday afternoon. Ho was crossing from Mercer Street, noar the Publa. Library, and when a'few feet from tho ■footpath wns knocked down by a motor bicycle. Mr. Cnssidy sustained a compound fracture of tho leg. He was attended .by -Dr. Pollen, and afterwards removed to tlin hospital. SHOCKING EVENT. (By Tclegrapli.--Press Association.) Timaru, August 29. A man whose name is unknown was killed on tho railway this morning nbout a mile from Pleasant Point. As tho trnin was approaching a culvert the man, ivho was'hidden, from"riow beneath tho rails,, stood up, and tho engine sovercd his' head from his body. SUDDEN DEATH, Nelson, August 29. Arthur Tomlinson, licensee of the Top House Hotel, died suddenly on Saturday afternoon. At the inquest to-day a verdict of heart failure-was returned.
