THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.
A SUGGESTION DECLINED: By Teleffraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. August 26, 10.50 p.m.) London, August 26. .'.-A correspondent has written to' Lord Crowe, Secretary of State for tho Colonies, suggesting that in view of the possibility of a general election in the'near future,, and tho probability of a small majority on .either side, the leading' members of tho Opposition should be invited to attend tho Imperial Conference next year. Lord Crowe, in declining tho suggestion, remarked that the Conference had hitherto comprised only Ministers of the Motherland and tho Dominions, and ho did not think a departure from that practice would prove convenient.
