JOTTINGS FROM WANGANUI.
(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.). Wanganul, August 2Q. Mr: W. 6. Bassett, having forfeited his seat on the Wanganui Licensing Committee through being away from two -meetings, on account of absence in Australia, members of. the committee, at a meeting to-day, unanimously resolved to ask the Government to : reappoint him to the vacancy. The Hons. Thomas ilackenzie' and R. sL'Kenzio arrived in town this after- 1 noon. They attend the Caledonian Society's banquet to-night, and will receive deputations to-morrow.
