IProm Our Special Oonesßonaeim.) _— 9 FEILDINC. Tho Oddfellows have won the cardplaying championship, taking the shield from tho. Druids. A Methodist' Ladies' Guild has been formed at Apiti. At the present time' (reports Inspec-. tor O'Brien) the Feilding borough is free from infectious or contagious disease. The average for tho whole of tho Cheltenham factory's suppliers was lower in the 1909-10 season than in that of 1905-9, yet the individual suppliers have;' done better. They; have had moro milk per ■ cow," and this has given them better returns for their pigs. Here is a note on the "Best Dairying-Breed Question": In the Colyton district the tendency 'is to go ii.. for the, Jersey cross all the time. This, popular breed is reckoned to have the advantage because they are light, and thereforevnot : severe.on the heavy clay land, and a farmer'can run three, Jerseys where he'could run only two of the heavy breeds, and then, of course, there is the" better quality of the milk. Another important consideration is that the dairymen .will get a better price for the calves. The question of winter feed is a recognised factor in the district. Green oats are mostly groivn,. arid ensilage is being gradually introduced. .- .. ' ."'. ' . CARTERTON. Mr. L. M Cracken, an employee of Messrs.
