Queensland totals show an improvement of 7520 ounces, and in New Zealand there has been a- gain of 1501 ounces. The aggregate yield for Australasia shows a shrinkage of 100,132 fine ounces.
f WELLINGTON WOOLLEN COMPANY. Tho balance-sheet of tho Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Oompany, Ltd., for the year ended July 51 was circulated yesterday. The gross profit for the year was £23,836 6s. 7d., as against £18,194 12s. 3d. in 1909. The expenses amounted to £10,292 Us. 6d.. as against £12.026 15s. 2d., showing a decrease of about £1801), and tho sum of £3000 was written off for depreciation, as against £1000 last year. Tho net profit is £10,604 os. 7d., while last year it was only £5226 3s. 7d. It will bo' seen from this that the company has just closed a remarkably profitable year, and tho shareholders are to .'bo congratulated on the results. With tho amount brought forward the total available for distribution is £13,821 3s. 7d., of which the dividend of 7 per cent, on preference and ordinary shares will absorb £7957 4s. 2d., the sum of £2500 is written off the warehouse stock as a special' discount, and there remains £3363 19s. sd. to. bo' carried forward. Including the /£3OOO written off this year for depreciation, tho cost of plant and buildings has now been reduced by £.49,844, whilst at the same timo all maintenance expenditure has been charged against revenue. The retiring directors, Messrs. W. n. P, Barber and W. G. Poster, offer themselves for re election, but there is to be : a contest for one,of the seats, as Mr. Arthur War.burton has also been duly nominated.
