HEAVY DAMAGES.
LADY INJURED. BY. AUTO. (By Telegraph.—Press Association;) Dunedin, August 25. ' At the Supreme Court to-day the action brought by Louisa Mary Aitckeson, school teacher, against James Martin ..Samson, auctioneer, for the recovery of XIOOO danit ages for injuries receded in a motor-car accident en April 8, was concluded. Th« jury returned a verdict for plaintiff on the ground of negligence, and want of ordinary .skill and care at the time of the ■' accident,' and assessed damages at £750. '.Mr. Adams, counsel for-defendant, gave notice that he would move to set aside the verdict, and would ask' for judgment for defendant. His Honour, Mr. Justice Williams, said that further consideration would lie reserved. It was just the-same as if counsel asked for'a nonsuit. Counsel had 14 days in which to move. Mr. Adams said that he would mov» for a new trial on tho grounds that the verdict was against the weight- of the. evidence, and that the damages were excessive. ' ■ „•
