WELLINGTON KENNEL CLUB.

ANNUAL SHOW. The twenty-fourth annual show of the Wellington Kennel Club opened yesterday in tlio New Zealand Farmers' Company's Hall. Entries as a whole are somewhat in advance of. those at previous shows, and in every respect standards established in tlio past aro fully maintained. Mr. S. Johnson, of Palmerstoii North,' one of the judges, states that as regards the quality of dogs. entered, there is a distinct adranco on all previous shows held by tho club. Tho exhibit of sporting dogs is Inrgo in point of numbers, and exceptionally good from , the standpoint of quality. This applies with particular force to spaniels of tho cocker variety. Irish terriers are also well represented. Of bull-dogs a large number has been entered, and the exhibit includes some very fine specimens of the breed. Collios aro well represented, and of deerhounds and Boriiois a feiv good specimens are to be soen on tho benches. In the smaller varieties of dogs thore are many entries of notable merit. Yesterday afternoon his Excellency the Governor, Lord Islington, who is patron of tho club, paid a visit to the show, and was conducted on a tour of inspection by thb president (Dr. A. AY. lzard;.
