WEDNESDAY ASSOCIATION. > The final games of the third round of the AVellington AVednesday tion's series were played, yesterday afternoon, when Pakeha defeated Petono by 3 goals to 2; while Karori won from Hui Mai B. by 6 goals to nil. PAKEHA, 3; PETONE, 2. The game Pakeha v. Petono was played on the Duppa Street Park. Pakeha, winning the toss, decided to play with the wind. From the bullyoff, Petouo carried the ball into the Pakeha quarters, where some fine passing took place, in- which the M'Ewan Bros., Noble, and Howe had a hand, and Beswick finished up by ■ scoring a goal. On resuming, both sides indulged in hard hitting, Pakeha getting the worst of the play.' From a mis-hit by ono of the Potone forwards, Pakeha secured tho ball, and Jackson started a passing rush, tho ball going to Ellison, to Nutter, to Gracio, to Thompson. The latter, however, lost a chance of scoring by hitting too hard, tho ball going behind the lino. Pakeha then had the good fortuno to get ah opening, through one of the Petone backs falling, and a wild pass from Ellison to Haase enabled tho latter to score. The spell thus ended: Pakeha', 1 1; Petono, 1. Tho second spell opened with Pakeha forcing tho game, but Petone, by the fine play of the M'Ewan Bros., Beswick, and Bates, carried tho game into tho Pakeha circle. Tho Pakeha goal-keeper conceded a penalty corner,. from which. J. M'Ewan shot a goal. Both sides were now playing a hard arid, sometimes, a rough game. Thompson (Pakeha) hit hard,, and, following up fast, was enabled to score. Petone players'wore now putting a lot of life into tho game, but, hitting too hard, lost several chances of scoring. Pakeha, from a scramble in front of the Petono goal, got the ball into the circle, when Gracie passed to Haase, who scored. Petono tried hard .to equalise tho score, and had Pakeha hard pressed when time was called, Pakeha winning by 3 goals to 2. For the winners, O. Smith, Gracie, Haase, Ellison, and Thompson wero the best; while for Petone, tho M'Ewan Bros., Beswick, Pan-ant, Bates, and Dolling took tho honours. Mr. Cusack was referee. KARORI, C; HUI MAI E, 0. Hui Mai, with only seven men, journeyed out to Karori. Karori had all the best of the game, winning by 6 goals to nil. Dunklcy (2), Colo (2), Picot,- and F. Spiers (1) scored for Karori. Mr. Cooper was referee.
