S.S. INDKAGHIRI. Oape Maria Van Diemen reported ,that the s.s. Indraghiri passed east yesterday morning, bound from New York to Auckland, via Sydney. The vessel,should put in an appearance at the northern pori, early this morning. After completing discharge of htit New Zealand cargo she ?oes on the loading berth for London, making calls at Wellington* .Gisborne, and Auckland, and leaving the last-named port finally about September 20 for Home.
THE BAEQUE, HELGA. ] The barque Holga, which has just been wrecked near Honolulu, was in Wellington waters for some considerable time. On a voyage from Newcastle to Wellington with coal she was dismasted, and was brought to the Heads under Jury rig. the Duco towing her to an anchorage in the stream on Sunday, October 11, 1908. She was refitted by Mr. James Bringans, and then went to Kaipara for a load of timber for Sydney. Captain J. Pearson, .at present in charge of the scow Whangaroa, now lying in Wellington, brought her from Newcastle, but left her at Wellington. Captain Wall taking her to Kaipara. Sho was built in Norway, and was a wooden vessel of 1254 tons. She was originally known as the Fortuna. and while bearing that name she was dismasted in l Australian waters.
. KIA OBA AT DUNEDIN. The passage of the Kai Ora from London to Port Chalmers occupied 42.days 16 hours, which in rather longer than previous voyages, owing to the fact of the steamer not being dry-docked at London through pressure of time. A report of tho voyage of the steamer, which arrived at. Port Chalmers on August 20, states that tho vessel left London on July 8, and a smooth sea and fine, weather were experienced to' Las Palmas; which was readied on July u, Prom Las. Palmas
fine, weather prevailed for several day's, after which fresh S.K. trades were encountered with a . heavy head .' sea and confused swell, .the ship labouring heavily. Oii completion of discharge she sails for Nelson and tho West Coast, leaving on. Friday. Owing to being detained at Ouehunga for repalrH the U.S.S. Company's '--Rosamond is not expected in port until I'ridaj next. A gigantic log raft, said to', be tho largest towed into any port in tho world, recently reached San Diego . from'' the mouth -of the Columbia Kivcr in tow of the tug Dauntless. The raft, wlych contained 7,000.000 ft. of lumber, was 70oft. long and SWI. wide. It was valued at £200,000. The crew of the barque Empreza, which is at Port Chalmers to be converted into a hulk, are likely to man tho hulk Ganymede on her tow to Wellington—probably early next week. !
