ANGLO-AMERICAN CLAIMS.

THE AGREEMENT SIGNED. By Telecranh—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. August 23, 0.30 a.m.) London, August 23. "The Times" Dublin (New Hampshire) correspondent reports that it is announced that the Anglo-American Pecuniary Claims Agreement has been signed. It is hoped that the Senato will ratify tho agreement early next session.

The agreement provides for the reference of disputes as to pecuniary claims to the Hague Arbitration Tribunal. Tho last General Claims Commission was convened in 1853. It dealt with claims which had arisen since 1812. In the seventies the.Civil War claims were cleared off.' The present negotiations thus . concern claims dating back before 1812 and with general- claims which have arisen since 1853. "The Times" says the agreement will also be found amply .to safeguard the interests of the self-governing Dominions, and in this respect the General Arbitration Treaty of 1908 afforded a useful precedent.
