AUSTRALIAN NOTE ISSUE.
PROFITS WILL BE INVESTED; By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Rec. August 23, 11.30 p.m.) Melbourne, August 23. In the House of. Representatives, the debate on tlio Note Issue Bill was continued to-day. Mr. Deakin claimed that in one respect the Bill was purely and simply a loan, and involved all "the ordinary risks of loans. The Prime Minister, Mr. Fisher, in replying, declared that he would not ask for any of the proceeds from the note issue for Commonwealth expenditure, but would use it for investment in Government stock.
Mr. Deakin said he had no argument to' urge against that course 1 , and added that. Mr. Fisher's statement would be received with a great deal of relief throughout Australia.
