DAVID CAMPBELL BENEFIT.

A meeting of delegates from Scottish Societies in Wellington was held in the club room of the Wellington Pipe Band and Dancers' Club, 221) Kiddiford Street, on Saturday evening last, to .devise the best means of arranging a benefit to Mr. David Campbell, .at present seriously ill in Wellington Hospital, and who is well' up ,in years. Delegates from the Wellington Pipe Band and Dancers' Club, Scottish Lowland Society of New Zealand, Scottish Pipers and Dancers' Society, Thistle Football Club, < ijnd Caledonian , Society, were present. 111'. \V. M'G. Smith was elected president, Mr. S. E. Shannon hon.' treasurer, and Mr. Alex Shaw lion, secretary.' It was' decided to hold a dance in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall,at an early, date, with a Scottish concert to be held later. An art' union will also be run in connection with the fund. Several prominent artists have notified their- intention of donating pictures for that purpose. The drawing will take place about the end nf the.year. Mr. Campbell is known to all Caledonian Societies throughout the Dominion, and is recognised by them as one of. tho best authorities on Highland piping, and has acted as adjudicator for piping events at the principal gatherings. Art union .tickets .will be distributed throughout the Dominion.
