FIRST DREADNOUGHT LAUNCHED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Rome, August 21. The Italian battleship Dante Aligheri has been launched at Castlelamare, on tlio Bay of Naples. Italy embarked on a programme of Dreadnought construction in 1309, and altogether four battleships were authorised, to be completed in 1912. The Danti 'Aligheri is the first of the four, and the only one put in hand'immediately, the construction of the others being deferred as the design of the Dante Aligheri was considered to be already out of date. The vessel'is to have a displacement of 18,000 tons, an armament of ten 12-inch guns, and engines of 30,000 horse-power, giving a speed of 23 knots. The newer ships are to have their displacement increased to 21,500 tons, the armament to thirteen 12incli gnus mounted in five, turrets, aud the speed to 28 knots.
