THE BRUSSELS EXHIBITION.
BRITISH SECTION REOPENED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Brussels, August 19. . The President of the Executive of the Brussels Exhibition, commenting on .the exaggerated reports started by . local newspapers regarding the loss by the recent fire, states that all traces of the fire will be removed within a fortnight. The Belgian and British section's have reopened. There are widespread complaints as to carelessness and dishonesty. on the part of some of the watchmen, and as to inefficiency of the water supply and lack of precaution. Yielding to public opinion, the committee forming a corps of 600 firemen, and purchasing new fire-engines. DE BEERS DIAMOND SAFE. (Rec. August 22, 0.20 a.m.) Brussels, August 21. The De Beers Diamond Company's larger safe has been recovered from the debris and reopened. The diamonds were found in good condition, and even the velvet on-the shelves of the safe was undamaged.
