CR. BALLINGERS RESIGNATION.
■TWO VACANCIES ON THE CITY COUNCIL. Mr. Thomss Ballinger, who had intimated his intention of resigning his seat on the City Council next mouth, handed in his resignation to.the Town. . Clerk on Saturday., morning. The > ■forestalling of his original intention was due to the outcome of representations . made to the effect that, by postponing his resignation until September .22 a second by-election would take place, with all the attendant expense, whereas by resigning at once the election could take placo.on the same day on which the-late Councillor Devine's place would be filled. It is also Mr. Ballinger's intention to resign his seat on the Wellington Technical School Board, at its meeting on Friday next. The reasons for Mr. Ballinger's action have been fully explained hi -the Dominion. , ■At the request of a number of citizens, Mr. W. H. P. Barber, of Corcmaiiael Street, has definitely decided to stand for one of tho vacant seats,
