UNDESIRABLE PUBLICATIONS.
Sir,—There is no denying that the newspaper press has a tremendous influence either for good or for eyil. Fortunately the 'newspapers published in this Dominion mostly use this influence for good; but there are some editors who seem to think 'that they should provide reading matter for all. whatever their tastes, even to publishing' that which tends to immorality, and' does not discourage vice. The police, I believe, havo ■power to prevent the sale of impure 'literature and prints. I think that the authors, publishers, and sellers of that which tends to immorality should lie considered to have committed a misdemeanour, and thus render themselves liable to be brought before a magistrate. Let the press at all times encourage that which is best in our nature.—l am, etc., KEEP PURE.
