In tho Federal House of Representatives Mr. Bamford (Queensland) has obtained leave to introduce a Bill providing lor a referenuum on the question of amending the constitution to provide for the reconstruction. of the ritates, the elimination of State - boundaries, the abolition, of State Governments, and substitution of a uniform system or government throughout theCommonwealth, the division ot Australia into provinces, each with a Parliament consisting of "one House, with such! powers as are conferred by tho Federal Parliament. Although leave was granted, members bri'eUy announced their intention to oppo'se the measure later.
