AN IMPORTANT CASE.
PEOPEKTY'VALUED AT ABOUT .£250,000. ■ ■'.. An important case is set down in the Auckland Supreme Court for next Friday, when the Education Board will, sue the Public Trustee to ■ determine the board's rights to the revenue from (he education reserve known as the City Chambers site, at the corner of Queen: and Victoria' Streets. The board will be represented by its solicitors, Messrs. Reed and Bailey, the Solicitor-General will appear for the Public Trustee, .while the Hospital Board (which is claiming the revenue) has been joined as n party, and the Grammar ■School Board also has received permission to appear. It may 'be that there will be other .claimants. According to a statement made to-day by the chairman of the Education Board, Sir. Justice Edwards,' after looking through the papers, lintl suggested that iu view of the importance of the Jssues involved mid the value of the propertyit would represent about a quarter of ii million sterling—it would bo as well if the case were referred direct to the Full Court at Wellington, which would be sitting about the beginning of October. Mr. Parr thought they should,, agree to this course, as it was hardly likely that such an important matter would end in the Supreme Court. The Board decided to agree to the proposal, and the chairman was authorised to employ extra legal assistance if lie thought vt desirable.
