AMONG PAST PUPILS.

MR. J. AV., JOYNT HONOUKED. A reunion of the, Nelson College Old Boys' Association was held last evening to do honour'to. Mr. J. AAV Joynt, an exprincipal of Nelson College, who is leaving to take the position of London agent of the University. Mr. T. E., : Fleming presided. ■The chairman read a telegram from fh» parent association, expressing their deep regret r.t Mr. Joynt's departure, their appreciation of his loyalty and interest in the college, and . their best wishes for his future happiness and success. Tho chairman said that Mr. Joynt had tho goodwill and hearty- wishes of all tho old boys of Nelson College. While other meetings hdd to honour Mr. Joynt had expressed the regard and respect in which lie was generally, held, .the old boys had gathered to express their affection. Among those present were. representatives of the college from its foundation. Mr. Joynt's health, proposed by the chairman, was drunk with musical honours and with cheers. The chairman then presented Mr. Joynt, on,behalf of the association, with a travelling clock, suitably inscribed. Mr. D. Jackson, Mr. J. Stout, Dr. H. Gibbs, and, .-.others : who were at Nelson College when Mr. Joynt was principal, expressed their appreciation of his character. ' ; Mr. Joynt,- in replying, said that he was made very happy and deeply gratified by the feelings expressed., The thought that he would carry away something of the affection of the many genera-' tions of Nelson College boys would be a solace and a comfort to '"him when he was away from New Zealand.' The wide and distant ramifications of the Old r}oys' Association' of Nelson College were a great source of strength to the college itself. He hoped that the association would go on developing and increasing. At least four old Nelson College boys were headmasters in New; Zealand today, and there Were others in every profession. Tho' spirit of Nelson College was leavening not only New Zealand, but other countries to which.its "old-boys" had'gone. . Other toasts were honoured as follow:— "School and Old Boys' Association," Mr. A. R. Atkinson, replied to by Messrs. G. AA r . Barltrop olid P. AA r . Richmond; "Masters, Past and Present." M"r. J. M.'Richmond, replied to by.Mr. J'. V. Firth. Songs were given by .Itessrs. Leo. Buckeridge, B. P. Gully, D.; Jackson, and F.-B. Mabin.
