new;' dieect lineh. the eotoeua. Through the courtesy of tho manage'' of the New Zealand Shipping Company (Mr.- Galbralth), • a Dominion* reporter was enabled to inspect the plans of the company's new triple-screw steamer Eotorua, to be employed in the London-New Zealand trade, yesterday. In conparison with the Euahinc, the beet ship employed by the company in tho trade at tnc present time, the Eotorua has advantages. Among tho innovations is a children'tj room, with its own baths and lavatories, In connection with tho first' saloon, and also a bath for the .use of passengers on the promenade deck. Owing to her largo beam (62 feet), all tho rjublic rooms, such as the social rooms, smoke rooms, and saloon lounges arc .very spacious, and lavishly furnished. A special feature o-i the upper deck is sixteen singleberth cabins, -with spray baths, in addition. The first-class saloon is a inagnil:'cently furnished apartment, having six round tables capable of seating five persons at each, besides two long tables,, seating fifteen passengers at each.

In tllfc second-class mosL ol.' tho iimer cabins are on the Bibby plan, which en-, sures a porthole to each, and. also makes them very, much' larger. . 'This claM aU» provides extensively- for • the* comfort of passengers,' th'er'e" being' ample' '• two-berth' accommodatioa and a beautifully-furnished saloon, ■ lounge, and smoke-rooia. .'■ .

The third-class passengers are well provided for. In this clas3 there is a smok-ing-room, and also a well-furnished lounge and bar. The lavatory accommodation, is exceedingly spacious, and spic-didly appointed throughout the ship. ' Pianos are plentiful, there being one in each class, besides an organ in the saloon. As in tho case with oil-modern ship 3, ?.. barber's shop is provided, and. in the Rotorua.is situ-, uted on the port side of the shelter-deck. Ample deck space is allotted to'all classes of passenger^,''a' special feature beir.gthc seating ncrnmnioda'.iori.' which ;i? provided for by u. liberal supply.of garden seats. Generally speaking, tho Eotorua ic. the very highest. class of modern passenger ship, being, furnished magnificently throughout. It is expected to dispatch her from London on October 27. on her. maiden trip to New Zealand, and her arrival at Wellington may be looked for about December. 12. ... ;....•'

After missing "a,trip -to' Wellington, owing to the bad-state of-the. Greymouth bar; the Maponrika was^timed-to, leave tho latter port at 7 o'clock, last evening, for Wellington, and way ports. She is duo here on Saturday next. •"

It is expected to dispatch the,.Nairn : ,, shire at daylight-'.his morning from Lyttolton to Avonmouth direct.

After discharge at- Duncdin, the CalderproVo will, : ,in all probability, proceed to Australia to. load, as there is .very little cargo offering i.n New Zealand, at present.

It is reported that tho New Zealand Shipping Company' 3 steamer :..Knikoura, now discharging on the coast, will lay up at Port Chalmers until cargo comes, forward again sufficiently' to justify putting her into" commission. ' ' ..

Mr. Win. Sogers, manager of tho Anchor Shipping' and Foundry Company,' Ltd.l Nolson, arrived in Wellington by the Pateena yesterday morning.

A telegram.-received from Auckland late last sipM stated'that, tho rtoa-mor Strathclydc, from New York,' via Sydney, had arrived.

An expected arrival from Greymouth this nvcraing is .the Blackball Company's new collier Ngatoro, with a full load of coal. Slio left for Wellington at 7. a.m. yesterday morning. ,

The's.s. Breeze is advertised to sail for Lyttolton, Dunedini Oamaru, and Thnarii to-day at noon.
