DOMINICA MOISER.

AN APPEARANCE IN COURT. The atmosphere of the Supreme Court is übovo all things staid and solemn, but its prevailing character was pleasantiy unsettled yesterday when, at the suggestion of the Crown Prosecutor, the.cuild, Dominica Moiser, aged 4 years and 10 months was brought into Court to ao 6ho\vn to bis Honour and the jury ompaunelled to try her mother ou a charge of wilful ill-treatment. During her brief visitation Dominica was the observed of' all. beholders. Evidently she bears no malice ior she exchanged a bright smile of greeting with her mother, standing in the dock. The child is rather heavy featured, and still bears on her face traces of scars, but fur the rest appears to be in excellent health. His Honour, for the • nonce, discarded his wig and had Doimmcu pluuud beside lnui on the bench. Assisted by Nurse Jones he spoke to the child with a view to determining' whether it would be wise to- obtain a statement from her to be used in ovidence.' The attempt proved futile and was abandoned. Dominica, it would seem; is not a talkative girl. Before 6hc departed she was carried along the front of the'jury box and beamed at its occupants in a particularly bappj mid siitislied'Way. The case is reported elsewhere.
