Mr. Asquith's recent letter recommending Jocal memorials to< King Edward suited to the needs of the different districts rather than a single national memorial, has given a marked impulse to the movements to commemorate the late King' 6 reign. Liverpool is considering designs for a .£25,000 memorial, which will include a handsome equestrian statue of King Edward.
Birmingham proposes to rebuild its Children's Hospital, and erect a statue. •Belfast, Bradford, Norfolk, Shropshire, Warwick, Windsor, Lancaster, Chichester, Hastings, and Salford propose the extension of their hospitals. Aberdeen intends to erect a' granite memorial, and Ipswich a sanatorium costing twenty thousand, of which sum half has been subscribed by the Michaelhousc School.
