MUSICAL COMPETITIONS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.! Napier, August 16. The principal events at tlio niusical'and elocutionary competitions to-day resulted as follow (there being another largo audience in the evening):—Baritone solo: C. Chambers (Wanganui), 1; S. N. • Primo (Napier), 2; H. Lucas (Blenheim) and S. R. Wood (Nnpier), tie for third. Mezzo iioprano and baritone duet: Miss I. Sandilund (Feilding) and C. Chambers (Wanganui), 1; Miss Fraser Tytlor and R. W. B;.-ittain (Blenheim), 2. Instructions have been given, states the Hon. J. A. Millar (Minister for Railways), in reply to Mr. Newman, M.P., for the putting in hand of. the construction of a'verandah for the Foxton Railway Station.
