PRESS CABLE SUBSIDY
COMMONWEALTH PROPOSAL By Telegraph—Press Association—Gopyriebi. (Ecc. August IG, 9.5 p.m.) Melbourne, August 15. In the House of Representatives Mr. E. L. Batchelor, Minister for External Affair?, has given notice, of motion for tomorrow in favour of giving assistance to cable service for the Australian press in the form of a subsidy of .£6OOO. The subsidy will be paid as lolloivs:— For the first year .*. .£2,500 For tho second year .£2,000 . For tho third year .81,51)0 Total ■ .... Any association applying for such a subsidy must be propared to supply at least COOO words weekly of cable news.
