JOTTINGS FROM WANGANUI.
(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Wanganui,. August 15. Tho Railway Department has decided to instal a turn-table at the.local railway station—au article of equipment which it has hitherto hod to do without, though badly needed. The turn-table will be fixed near the engine-sheds on a piece of ground to be reclaimed from, the river. The local- magistrate was occupied -with counEel for a considerable , period of time' to-day, endeavouring to arrange for the hearing of several cases which are pending. The necessity fbr his presiding it sittings at Waverley, Marton, Ohakune, and Eaetihi makes it exceedingly difficult for his Worship" to get through all the work, which falls to his lot, and, as the district.is growing, and the business becoming greater also, it may soon be found" expedient by the Justice Department (as it has long been desirable) that tho local magistrate bo relieved of ■ this outside work. .
