At tho Christclmrch Cycling and Motor' Club last Wednesday evening, Mr. J. Read (New Zealand champion) was seen in exhibition games of WO up with two oF the club's best players.; In the first game, conceding 200 points, he did not get going, and was beaten easily, the winner making breaks of 41, 36, 29, 25, and 21. In '.he second game ho gavo a great display, uaking breaks of 62, 54, 36, and finally running to game with-a brilliant break of 216 unfinished. Playing at. the.Christchurch Club on Friday evening, Mr. Bead was in good form. Giving a start of 500 points in 750 up ho set out with a break of lid, following this' up with four breaks of over 60. After a neat effort of S6, ho ran straight to his points; and, finishing the break, ho ran up a magnificent total of 316.
