H'Naught.wrote from Dunedin that ie would be prepared to give his lecture on in Palmerston about August 3i. It was decided tc leave the matter in the hands of the chairman to arrange with the director of the Technical Sohool and to recommend that the lecture •be given'• on. Thursday afternoon at the Technical School. .' The'Patea Co-operative 'Company wrote giving quotations for manures with, a special discount to.'farmers' unions. No. action:was taken as the .local freezing work's,: already give the unions discount on purchases made through the union secretary. "..',■■' As inquiries'had been made regarding the.forming of a condemned stock,insurance 'fund for the Manawatu, copies of the regulations of a; similar fund working at. Auckland were received from the nrovincial secretary of the Farmers' Union there, and:he also promised to supply full particulars in due course.- It was,decided to wait for further. information from Auckland and also to write to Canterbury for particulars as to the scheme in force there. '".-.■■ Copies of the Journal of the Department of Agriculture were' received by the branch. The majority uf "those , present stated that they were subscribers to the jouriiali.'. and were of the opinion that it contained ;much useful information ' to farmers. . ' The matter of the shearers' demands (including those of tho i hed hands) in connection with which a large number of farmers have received citations to appear at .the Conciliation Council on' Tuesday next at Palmerston was discussed.
