Cows on other vendors' account sold from £5 15s. to £7 10s*; springing heifers, £6 75.; trap harness. £7. ; The, property of 57- acres was submitted,, and failed to reach ,the owner's reserve, but a. portion comprising eight acres was subsequently sold to Mr. M. The quality of the . sheep was'mostly inferior to medium, and prices'realised for ewesi were about on a • par iwith. recent rates,, but hoggets showed an improve: ment.' . Cattle were chiefly represented ■by dairy stock, but buyers held off, evidently preferring to operate at the numerous special dairy sales which are being held in the district.- We quitted practically all-lots submitted, 1 but prices were mostly in favour of buyers. On the s.imo (lay I held my opening, salo of springing heifers and dairy cows, when" there was a /good yarding, with a big attendance of buyers. Competition was keen, and anything showing quality and well up to calving sold at excellent prices. Springing hoifers, close up, made £6 10s. to £7 17s. 6d.; later, £4 to £5 155.; springing cowe, £6 to £6 10s.; later, £4 to £5 10s. Messrs. Quinton and Haylock's dairy herd, which wcro sold at this sale, wero keenly competed for, prices ranging from £7 10s. to £13 ss. for early calvers; later do., £4 10s. to £6 15s.' At Stony Eiver, ou Wednesday, there was a good yarding, and everything was Bold either in "the yarde or privately. AUCKLAND STOOK PBIOES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, August 12. At. the Westfield fat stock market last week's values 'were easily sustained, and in some cases exceeded. Ox beef made from £1 3s. to £1 ss. per 1001b., and cow and.- heifer do., 17s. to £1 3s. per 1001b. Steera ranged in price from £6 17s. 6d.to £15 2s. (i.; cows and heifers, £3 15s. to £9 7s. 6d. A draft of 15 extra- heavy prime bullocks from Mr. Edmund E. Sandell's One Tree Hill farm average £14-10s. Fat and young calves continue to sell freely! ■ heavy 'do. realising from £2 10s. to -£3 Bs.; medium, £1 lls., £1 175.; small to medium, 15s. to £1 10s.; small and fresh dropped 2s. to 12s.
Doth tho quality and number of fat sheep yarded was below tho average, and there-' was little alteration in values. Best heavy wethers realised from £1 3s. to £1 ss. 6d.; medium to heavy, 19s. to £1 2s. 6d.; light to medium, 16s. 9ii. to 18s. 6d.; ewes, lls. 6d. to 16s. 6d.; a email pen of extraewes, £1 ss. 3d.; 1231 sold. Hoggets made from 13s. to 14s. 9d. for'best; light and unfinished, 9s. 9d. to lls.' 6d.
