RICCARTON CAR FATALITY. (By Telegraph.—Freaa Association.! N Chrlstchurch, August 12. • Evidence tendered at the inquest concerning the death of Moses Chambers, who was'tilled-by- 'a tramcar when returning from Riccarton yesterday, suggested that the. deceased was slightly under the influence of liquor ,at the time. Chambers fell from ■ a trailer oil to a straight piece of road, a second.trailer {Kissing,over him. ■ Tho coroner returned a verdict that death was accidental, and exonerated tho tramway officials. Chambers was ' a singlo man, about- thirty-two years oE age. Ho came to New Zealand from Queensland a couple of years ago. OVERDOSE OP LAUDANUM; Auckland August 12. Constable Cox, of Raweno,-. 'telegraphed to Inspector Culleii to-day that Walter Burry, a settler at Waiotemarama, took an overdose of laudanum' on Wednesday night by accident, it is supposed, and died this morning. FALL THROUGH A LIGHT-WELL. Yesterday morning, Nellie Roache, living hi the Arcadia Hotel; v sustained severe injuries to her head and shoulders ■ through falling through .a light .well, a distance'of forty feet.. ' After having been attended to. by/a medical man, she was removed to the hospital, where on inquiry last evening it was stated-that she was progressing favour-, ably. - ■. . . . .SUDDEN DEATH. Mrs. Davis, residing at St. Mary Street, off Tinakori Road, died very suddenly yesterday morning. Her daughter was ill with .pneumonia,. and Mrs. Champress, a neighbour, who had been assisting to nurse the latter, left for her homo, her place being taken by Mrs. Twohill. . About that time Mrs. Davis was' complaining of pain, and..Mrs. Twohill left the house, to get assistance. On returning she foundthat Mrs. Davis had passed away.
