Ross (chairman of.tlio.Maugawhero Road.Board) was. charged, on the information of D;. Mason (a member, of tho board) with having' voted on a motion in which lie had a porsonal, as apart from a public, , interest. Ross was alleged to owo the board a sum of ,£l9 10s., and evidenco was adduced with a view to showing that a motion, was tabled: ITbat the.chairman'bo sued for amount." Only two members voted' for it, the others refraining from voting, and tho chairman then said that he did not consider it carried. An amendment was then moved that the chairman bo "asked" to pay the amount. The chairman and two others voted' in favour of this, ' and two : others against it; and, notwithstanding the protests of the latter, the amendment. was declared carried. Tho magistrate reserved' judgment. .
