IMPORTANT TRAMWAY. MATTER. . (Prom Our Special Correspondent.) r Wanganui, August 10. 'At tho Magistrate's' Court' to-day,. a caso was heard in which D. Ross (chairman of.tlio.Maugawhero Road.Board) was. charged, on the information of D;. Mason (a member, of tho board) with having' voted on a motion in which lie had a porsonal, as apart from a public, , interest. Ross was alleged to owo the board a sum of ,£l9 10s., and evidenco was adduced with a view to showing that a motion, was tabled: ITbat the.chairman'bo sued for amount." Only two members voted' for it, the others refraining from voting, and tho chairman then said that he did not consider it carried. An amendment was then moved that the chairman bo "asked" to pay the amount. The chairman and two others voted' in favour of this, ' and two : others against it; and, notwithstanding the protests of the latter, the amendment. was declared carried. Tho magistrate reserved' judgment. .

Tho Wanganui -Borough Council and the Gronvillc-Castlecliff Tramway Board met in conference last night,- and, after, a protracted sitting, arrived at a satisfactory agreement on various points which have,, for ,a considerable time, been awaiting settlement. The points of agreement aro that the borough is to supply power and cars to the-board'at. 91d.-per car mile, and is to have! control-of the running. Tho to; guarantee a minimum of 115,000 car miles for the first year, and 120,000 thereafter annually..Tho cars are. to be: "truck" - cars, the samp as used in tho borough, the board having the right to attach "trailers" for holiday and other extraordinary, traffic. '(The board had desired "bogey" cars, , but the council', would not agroo to. these at the price of'9ld., and the board finally waived the point.) Tho s<srvic« is to.be half-hourly to Castlecliff, and quarter-hourly, to ;Gojiville; Tho board is to maintain' the line running through its district, and tho borough to supply the electrical power to light the tramway, and the proposed tea. kiosk at , Castiecliff terminus at.net cost. The borough is to have tho option to take over the suburban system at the I end ■>f, soven years .at actual cost. Minor alterations and modifications were made, and. the agreement was referred to both bodies' solicitors, 'and. will como, before them again before being finally signed. .
