Tho report cabled from London on Monday that the Postmaster-General had approved the Pacific Board's scheme for a second Pacific cablo camo as a surprise to Mr. .Judd, the manager of the Pacific Cable Board. He, however, cabled to Vancouver, and bad received an assurance that nothing had been done, even on tho question of a direct Sydney-New Zealand service. It was altogether premature to • state" that the assent of Now Zealand had been given to the New Zealand scheme. Mr. Judd thought that such- a service was, however, under consideration for some time.
