KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The fortnightly meeting of the Karori Borough Council was hold last evening, the Mayor (Mr. C. I. Dascnt) presiding. There were also present Councillors Wodde, Burn, 'Welling, Standeiij- Walmsley, Spiers, Hildrcth, and Itaino. . '-■■'•■
Tho Mayor reported that lip had interviewed the city tramways engineer, with reference to obtaining material for tramway extension from Home, and had been informed that tho material could not be landed in Wellington within six months..; The engineer, however, : would lend . some' boosters from the city trams,, those to.be re- , placed when the Karori material arrived, so that the work could be pushed on.
A letter was received from the Town Clerk (Mr. Jno. 11. Palmer), informing tho council that tho erection of twelve new street lamps would be carried out on'payment of £40. Tho clerk also informed the council that. the agreement between the City Council and the Karori Council did not provido for tho removal of street lamps once they had .boon erected.
A communication was received from the Town Clerk (Mr. Jno. R. Paalmer), stating that nothing had been done in connection with the question of ' the shorter tram route to Karori.
Councillor Weddo held thajt tho City Council, had not answered .the' letter sent by the Karori Council, and ho moved: "That tho committeo formed somo" time ago be called together at once, to go'into tho question of a shorter tram' route to tho city." Tho motion was carried.
A letter: from the City Council, referring to a strip of laud purchased by the Karori Council to givo access from Karori lfoad to the Kurori tramways was referred. to the borough solicitor.
