. Although clergymen's wives .have written novels ere this—ihe're is, for example, "Lucas Malet," to mention but one—Sirs. Montague-Fowler furnishes probably the only example of one turned playwright. For it is an open secret that "Ga-eton Gervex," author of "The Accolade," a one-act play recently produced-at the Court Theatre'with great success," is none other than Mrs. Montague Fowler/ wife of tho Eev. Montague Fowler. •. • ' ■ Mr. Fowler.is.the third son of the late Sir John Fowler, Bart., of Braemore, and is now second heir to tho -title and estates. He was formerly chaplain to Archbishop Benson, and since 1900 has been the popular Rector of All Hallows,- London Wall. ■ Mrs. Fowler (who is a daughter of the -late' Colonel Edward Thomson, C.5.1.) took the heroine's part in "The Accolade," and appears to have a bright dramatic future before her. . ,■
