f;• • j "MIND PARTLY ■UNHINGED." ! (By Teleirraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, August 8. At the inquest on T. F. Barnes, who committed suicide in - the Waitemata Hotel, the evidence of his solicitor, Mr. Schnauer, showed that Barnes's- mind was partly unhinged. He suffered from . tho delusion that his neighbours had followed him to Auckland and were ftoing to tar and feather him. Ho was rational on other points, but said on Friday ho had tried to commit suicide, bat his courage had failed him., He refused to give up bis revolver, but at the solicitor's suggestion lie Saw'the chief detective, who left him at tho Court, tho latter not knowing there was anything serious tho matter. A verdict of suicide while of unsouud mind was returned. FATAL FALL ON THE STREET. Auckland, August 8. A man named John Lewis Shead, about 30 years of age, who lived in Parnell, fell while walking home this evening, striking his head against the kerb, and died from the injuries which he sustained. YOUNG MAN DIIOWNED. Christcliurch August 8. William Cameron, aged 23, was drowned at rarnas-sus Ford, "Waiau Biver, on Sunday morning, SERIOUS AND PECULIAR WHARF ACCIDENT. A rather serious accident happened to a man named Thomas Bulger on the Queen's Wharf, yesterday morning. Ho was walking past one of the 6heds, when the wheel of a lorry laden with boxes accidentally broke, and the boxes fell against the side of tho shed, pinning Mr. Bulger to the wall. Ho was taken to the hospital, where it was found that he had sustained a fracture of the skull.
