THE SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION. THE ANNUAL TESTS. The results of the examination held on July 1 uudei' tlio auspices of the Wellington Sunday School Union have nowbeen received by the secretary. The examiners were Jfesdames G. W. Darvall, T. H. Gill, and A. It. Atkinson; Miss Helyer and • ilaasrs. T. H. Gill, M.A., LL.B., and J. B. Hopkirk. The total number of entries was considerably over 1000, and 791 scholars actually sat for examination. It meant that over 7000 answers had to be read and judged, and the examiners have had a strenuous time assessing the marks. The number of scholars gaining .prizes and, certificates is 6GG, being 3 per cent, higher than last year, .which had been, the best for a number of years.. The scholars were divided into six grades, according to aae; 75 per cent, of marks and over gained, a prize and first-class certificate, Cll and under 75 per cent., a second-class certificate, and 10 and under CO per -cent, a third-class cc. jficate; 112 scholars gained prizes and llrst-class certificates, 235 gained- second-class, and 318 third-class certificates, while 128 failed to. gain the •10 per cent, of marks necessary to ensure a pass. Lord Islington has kindly consented to piesent the prizes, and certificates to the> successful' scholars at a meeting to bo held in St. John's Church on August 19. Mr. H. N.
