RESOLVED ON. ATTITUDE OF THE MEN. (Eec. August 8, 11.40 p.m.) London, August 8. The ship-building yard where ( the strike has occurred has resolved on' a lock-out of sixty per.centum of the men, being 60,000 hands, in consequence of tho demand of the men for a reduction of from 56 to 53 hours "weekly and an increase in their wages of ten per centum. Tho mon are likely to retaliate by declaring a general strike, and' thus forcing the remaining forty por centum oi tho employees to . cease work. It is expected that the Imperial Yard will support tho employers to tho extent of not taking on new workmen. SIDNEY SLAUGHTERMEN'S STRIKE. Sydney, August 8. The slaughtermen on etriko at Glebo Island gave notice that they did not intend to resume to-day. This does not constitute a strike under tho Act, as tho agreement stipulates for a moment's notice on, either side. A famine is not anticipated.
