MAIL STEAMER ADRIFT.
A BROKEN PISTON-ROD. By TelesraDU—Press Association—Copyright. (Rec. August 9, 0.35 a.m.) Sydney, August 8. The French mail steamer Salazic, inward from Marseilles, was reported ■ this ' morning to be lying disabled to the southward of Jervis Bay, 90 miles south of Sydney. Assistance has been sent. It is believed that tho vessel's pistonrod, was carried away. The weather is fine, and there is no danger.
