THE MEMBER FOR WELLINGTON CENTRAL.
Sir,—l waited to see Mr. I'. M. 11, Fisher's address to his electors after the stand he took oil Mr. Massey's amendment on the" land question, and I think that he came o,ut in his true colours. First, he stood as an Independent Liberal with about as much Liberal backbone as a whitebait. Second, he stood as a leaseholder pure and simple, only to vote with the Opposition on the land question, and that is to give us Crown tenants the option of getting the freehold. ! Now, sir, where _do his pledges to his electors come in? He says that on, tho land .question the Government was. as spineless as a whitebait. I think that Mr; Fisher has given the true position of himself instead of the Government; Now, sir, if Mr. Fisher would practice what he preachcs ho would do justice to, his supporters. In conclusion I think if Mr. Fisher would take a leaf from the member for Otaki (Mr. Field) lie would hot go far astray, although I would bo very sorry to see Mt. Field support (which I don't think lie would) the. Opposition on a no-confidence motion as much as I would like to 'have the'optional'clause.—l am, (etc., J. T. KENT. Rcikorangi, August 4, 1910.
