WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS.
PRAISE BY AN EXPERT. ; Mr. Brown, the new Superintendent of the Christchurch tramways, who has arrived from Sydney, and leaves for the south to-night, is a native of New South Wales, and was in the tramway service in Sydney.. During, his brief stay in Wellington ho utilised his time to advantage in an inspection of the Wellington tramway system. He not-only visited the power-house, but travelled over every line in the city. From what ho saw he had no hesitation in saying that the Wellington system was. well managed. Asked whether there was anything new about the Sydney tramway service, Mr. Brown said there was nothing worthy of special note. The traffic in Sydney, however, had grown to such enormous proportions that city railways were now practically a certainty. "They would, of,course, be on the underground system, as .in London. The schemo would cost about five or six millions sterling.
