English officers, experimenting with balloons over the Thames, proved that bombs were effective when dropped from a height of 200 ft., and wnen the balloons were travelling at a speed of 18 miles an hour. . LONG PASSENGER FLIGHTS. Paris, • August 2. ' 11. Farman, with threo passengers, aeroplaned a distance of sixty-five miles at Mounnelon, in the Department of Marne.
