SANATORIUM FOR CONSUMPTIVES. ','■ /(By Telegraph.-Press Association.) ' ■'. Dunadin, July 31. : The Sanatorium for ■ Consumptives ■'■ near Paliner'stou was opened on Saturday by Air. J..H. \valker, chairman of the hospital .aiid Charitable Aid board, iu the presence.of some 200 people. In the course,of his address Air. W'alkor ' said the members of the board fully realisedthe necessity if., having' the : sanatorium, built on. proper lines and fully equipped with all appliances which . ' would render the life of the patients more comfortable, and give them ovory opportunity to regain their health and strength, and thus .prove a valuable fac- ■ tor in tho lifo of the community. The site acquired was admirably situated for the purpose, being nicely sheltered, olovated considerably.above the roadway, aud possessing a' most pleasant, outlook. It would be staffed with tho ablest officers in the Dominion—Consulting, physician, Dr. Colquhouu; bacteriologist, Dr. Champtaloup; medical superintendent, Dr. Falconer.. Arrange-' itiiMits. bad licoit made.with South Canterbury, Ashburton and southern boards to take their consumptive patients at '.he rate of 355. a week, a rate esti- • mated on the cost over the whole in-' ■ stituiion.
